Our hikes are for every woman+—including trans women, individuals who identify as non-binary or gender non-conforming, persons socialized as women, and anyone who identifies as a woman in a way that's meaningful to them. We also welcome the intersectional identities of BIPOC hikers and differently-abled hikers, as well as hikers of every age and experience level, from first-timers to seasoned trail veterans.
While we appreciate the support of our male allies, we ask that individuals who identify as men honor our group's exclusive women+ space during our events. GWHVA will occasionally offer events open to everyone—family, partners, children—and we'd love to meet you then.

Ambassador-led events are hosted by our GWHVA Ambassadors across the state through our nonprofit. They always require registration in advance and are capped to keep group sizes manageable and ensure everyone has the best experience.
-
Unofficial events are casual meetups planned in our Facebook group by group members. They're unaffiliated with the Girls Who Hike Virginia nonprofit.
-
Pick a trail, a date, and a time. Visit the Events page in our Facebook group and hit "Create Event." Include as many details as you can, publish it, and promote it to the group! Women+ hikers will show up, and you'll make new friends in the process.

We started as a Facebook group connecting women+ with one another to enjoy Virginia's hiking trails together. Today, we're an independent nonprofit run by a Board of Directors and hikes organized by a team of Ambassadors dedicated to connecting women+ with the education, resources, and tools they need to enjoy the outdoors.
